About
DEGSE: Digital Escape Rooms for Social Entrepreneurship
Across Europe, around 2.8 million organisations are active in the field of social entrepreneurship (European Commission, 2021). These organisations play a vital role in addressing pressing issues such as youth unemployment, social inclusion, and community resilience. At the same time, studies show that while many young people are eager to pursue careers that make a positive impact, they often lack the skills and pathways to do so.
The DEGSE project responds to this gap by equipping young people with essential entrepreneurial competences and introducing them to the world of social entrepreneurship through the engaging and interactive format of digital escape games. By harnessing the power of gamification, DEGSE promotes not only skill-building but also a deeper understanding of active citizenship, social responsibility, and youth-led innovation, which are key pillars of European society.
In line with the European Commission’s Action Plan for the Social Economy, the project contributes to building a resilient, digitally skilled, and socially engaged generation. By encouraging active participation through play, DEGSE helps boost young people’s motivation, confidence, and capacity for action, fostering long-term impact in the fields of education, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation.

DEGSE addresses three key EU priorities:
Enhancing digital readiness and innovation by promoting game-based learning tools, particularly digital escape rooms, that align with evolving educational practices in the digital age.
Ensuring that all resources are accessible, inclusive, and adapted to the needs of marginalised groups and learners with specific learning difficulties (SLDs) or other learning needs.
